Allyson + Nick’s Cozy In Home Session in Portland
Sometimes when you meet people, you instantly feel like old friends. Allyson and Nick feel like home and I knew when we met at Kylie and Justin’s wedding, a couple of mine, that we were kindred spirits. Nick had been officiating and Allyson had made the macramé for the wedding – we instantly hit it off! I remember thinking that day how I’d love the photograph them and was SO excited when they reached out for their Portland in home session!
When I arrived at their sweet Portland home, they insisted on making me an (oh so amazing) oat milk latte and we sat by the fire chatting for an hour before we even started the session. There’s not always time to just sit and chat but when there is, it’s absolutely awesome! There’s a sense of peace and calm that radiates through the images and instantly takes you to a cozy day at home with your loved ones. Allyson and Nick’s warm and welcoming energy is simply tangible.
What I love most about in home sessions is how personal they are. My sessions are all about emotion, but in home sessions are a whole other level of documenting details and little micro-stories that are a part of a couple’s bigger story. It was really special to see the amount of work Allyson and Nick had put into making their house, their home. Allyson is a macrame artist and her beautiful work was featured around the house including the cutest macrame coasters and little touches. They painted their kitchen together and had worked so hard growing plants and thrifting furniture to bring together their personalities and reflect their style. You can see pieces of each of them through the details and of course their love for their sweet as can be pup! Home is definitely where these two keep their hearts of gold!
