Ranch Wedding in Bend, Oregon | Megan + Chris

Megan and Chris! Oh my, how I love these two and absolutely adored their wedding day. From top to bottom this ranch wedding in Bend, Oregon was incredibly unique. Megan and Chris both work in the service industry so it came as no surprise when a bunch of their vendor friends offered to pitch in their services. I loved seeing the community come together for these two on their special day and it was obvious as to why everyone was so willing to offer their talents; Megan and Chris are nothing but joy!

When I first arrived at Megan’s parents' ranch where the wedding took place, I was greeted by endless smiles. And guess what? The smiles NEVER stopped! I’ve been doing this for quite a few years now and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a couple have grins ear to ear the entire day. Megan and Chris were calm and collected the whole day, they just were so happy to be surrounded by their family and friends for such a meaningful event.

This ranch wedding took place at Megan's parents’ home in Bend, Oregon.

I don’t think there could have been a better place for this sweet couple to say “I Do.” I have to give major credit to Megan’s dad for the ranch he created — I mean he really pulled out all the stops! It was amazing, we had so many locations to use for photos! From the greenhouse where we took their portraits to the fixed-up airstream the guys got ready in, each piece of this homestead was utilized and brought to life with love. The property itself was vast and beautiful. The ceremony overlooked their pond and the sun reflected off of the water at the PERFECT time. Talk about a peaceful and calm environment, no wonder Megan and Chris seemed so stress-free!

There were traditional aspects included in Megan and Chris’ wedding: toasts, first dances, etc., but they also had a LOT of non-traditional elements. For starters, their color palette was orange! Not burnt orange, not terracotta, it was a bright and beautiful orange. They really nailed it too. Noble Floral Co. brought the whole look together by mainly featuring marigolds and Japanese anemones, just look at how they pop! The floral colors tied in perfectly with the dark wood and amber glasses featured in their reception tent and blended nicely with the organic natural background of the ranch.

To enhance the environment even more, Megan brought in a few more personal touches of her own.

For starters they used her vintage turquoise ford truck as a bar — how cool! One of my favorite moments was when Chris told me about the compliments they get when they’re out with the truck, and how he is now SO excited to be able to say it belongs to his wife! And, we have to give special attention to the beautiful furniture that was displayed at cocktail hour. Megan is actually a leather smith (I know, so cool right?!) and wanted to incorporate that part of her life into the big day so they did just that by bringing in furniture right from their own house!

Cocktail hour was an absolute hit. Megan and Chris had a custom beer brewed for their wedding day that they gifted to guests, it even had a photo of them on the label! The charcuterie board was insane and the cocktails were next level. They were actual art. Many games of corn-hole were played and endless laughs were shared, but the fun didn’t stop there. The party was just getting started! For dinner, Megan and Chris were ready to absolutely blow their guest’s minds. Instead of your traditional buffet or plated dinner, they really went for the unordinary and held a pig roast! It was incredible to see them cook up the pig and chickens, I think everyone was definitely starting to get a little hungry as the smell flowed through the wind among the entire ranch, haha!

While guests were busy mingling and snacking during cocktail hour, I did take a minute to run off with our newlyweds. We just had to get a slice of that golden hour! Megan and Chris are such a dream couple, they had the time of their lives dancing and running around the ranch while I snapped photos. I loved how Megan’s dress had so much movement with the fringe detail, it was so playful and fun!

Now, are you ready to shed a little tear? Grab your tissues; this part really got me good. Megan’s grandfather, who is in his late 90s, and her grandmother were in attendance at the wedding. They made a point to give a toast and cheers to everlasting love. It’s moments like these that make this job incredibly special — to be a part of a family's most important day is just unlike anything else! Family and friends were gathered on the front porch as the sun was setting and turned their attention to Megan’s grandparents. The whole moment was beautiful and there wasn’t a single dry eye in the house!

After the toasts, dances, and dinner, the party really got going!

There was a raised wooden stage that was lit by some string lights and everyone danced their butts off the whole night. Drinks were flowing out of the vintage turquoise ford truck and the smiles were everywhere. To end the night, Megan and Chris ran off into the woods to the teepee Megan’s family built where they spent their first night as Mr. and Mrs! This wedding was absolutely radiant and I am over the moon with how all of the photos turned out.
