Modern Vineyard Wedding at Domaine Roy Et Fils | Fernanda + Oliver

Where do I even begin with this gorgeous modern vineyard wedding?! Seriously, I have SO much to share with you about Fernanda and Oliver's wedding day — I can't get my words out fast enough! Let’s start at the beginning with the sweet story about how I was connected to these two. It is no secret that one of my favorite wedding planners is Hillary Lowe of Kayloe Bridal. She is actually best friends with Fernanda and Oliver, so when they told me she had referred them to me I was already beyond excited. Hillary didn’t actually plan this wedding (she had just had their third baby) but her husband was officiating the ceremony! And, while Hillary didn’t fully plan this wedding I could definitely see her touch throughout the event. It was so so special to have them there and I could tell that Fernanda and Oliver felt the same way.

I have so many favorite things about Fernanda and Oliver’s wedding day but I honestly think that my favorite part was that they had such a clear vision for their day! They wanted it to feel like an intimate dinner party, not a big wedding and not a crazy reception. Their goal was to just gather with their family and friends for a meaningful ceremony and dinner lit by candlelight. And let me tell you, they pulled off their vision beautifully! I mean for real, when I walked into the space I could tell that their dream was brought to life in the best way possible.

Fernanda and Oliver chose the incredibly beautiful vineyard, Domaine Roy Et Fils as their wedding venue.

This location is so unique. At Domaine Roy Et Fils, you get the signature views of wine country valley but it is a little bit different than the typical vineyard venue we often see. Domaine Roy Et Fils is a beautiful combination of the desired vineyard environment and the modern/industrial vibe. What I loved is that they have a very industrial-style cement loading dock that is used as an intimate ceremony or dinner spot. It has gorgeous olive trees lining the space that lead you to the view of the valley. The trees and cement provide such a warm tone and glow to everything, and the aesthetic worked so perfectly with Fernanda and Oliver’s wedding colors.

There were so many incredibly special elements to this wedding and I find it almost hard to believe that they squeezed all this goodness into just one event! Fernanda and Oliver really wanted to make their vineyard wedding feel like them, so they added many personal touches which I always love to see. For starters, our good friend Hillary (yes, the incredible world-class planner who connected me with Fernanda and Oliver) is also an amazing seamstress and made Fernanda’s dress! Can you believe that? She purchased the skirt from BHLDN then built the bodice herself. I mean, that is just incredible! To add to the list of hand made, personal elements — Fernanda arranged all of the flowers herself! It was inspiring to see how she mastered the neutral color palette. The arrangements turned out just heavenly.

When photographing weddings, I have the opportunity to get an inside look into so many different families’ lives and what makes them unique. Something that really stood out to me about Fernanda and Oliver’s wedding was that they embraced both of their families' backgrounds. Fernanda’s relatives’ first language is Spanish, so her dad gave his speech in Spanish while her brother translated it into English line by line. We were all crying!

Now, I have to give special attention to Archie, their dog and the star of the show! I love when couples involve their pets in their wedding day but Fernanda and Oliver took it to the next level and I LOVED it! Archie was a successful ring bearer, a sweet part of their first look, and had his own treat bar! That’s right, a treat bar where guests were encouraged — especially by Archie — to select a gourmet treat to give him at the reception. Adorable! They even had a DIY photo booth that was constructed out of florals over a mesh screen and delicately lit by neon lights. Overall, everything about this reception was meaningful and so much fun.

I could just go on for ages about this wedding and the details I loved!

Fernanda and Oliver had a family-style dinner which is my absolute favorite because of the many connections and memories it creates. The details were thought through for every part of this wedding day. Fernanda and Oliver had organized live string music for the ceremony and cocktail hour which always adds another layer of class. When it comes to all things sweet, I just loved how their wedding cake was ordered from Milk Bar as two different sized cakes. Fernanda and Oliver just stacked them on top of each other to create their own two-tier wedding cake! Additionally, they gave out the most gorgeous aesthetic (and delicious!) cookies I’ve ever seen as gifts for their guests. To round off the evening they had the oh-so-fun and romantic sparkler send-off! All of this celebration and they still managed to maintain an intimate feel to their wedding.

In addition to the incredibly gorgeous cookies, Fernanda and Oliver also paid tribute to their venue by gifting each guest a bottle of wine directly from the vineyard. They had custom labels with their names designed and placed on each bottle. It was such a thoughtful and memorable gift that I know their guests will cherish! I mean, I could go on and on for ages about how much I loved Fernanda and Oliver’s intimate vineyard wedding but I think the photos can summarize the rest up for me. What a true joy it was to be a part of this wedding!
