When Abby and Pat’s Colorado wedding was postponed due to COVID19 we worked together to make a completely new plan for their weekend. After narrowing down their guest list to just their parents, and of course their dog Josie, we chose The Niksen House as our home base. The modern Scandinavian style totally matched Pat and Abby’s vibe, and the gorgeous back deck overlooking the forest was the perfect place for a small reception. After saying vows along the Salmon RIver in the Mount Hood National Forest, we went for a drive up to the White River West Sno Park and stopped at some of my favorite stops along the way. It was MAGICAL and so full of joy—we even listened to The Lizzie McGuire Movie soundtrack driving up to Hood because I just scored the CD at goodowill—we danced the whole day away.

My best advice when planning a COVID elopement is to keep as many wedding traditions as possible. You want it to still feel like a wedding, and not like a long weekend at a cool AirBnb. Some of my favorite things Pat and Abby did were getting flowers from Hey You Flowers for themselves AND a collar for Josie, having their parents each read during their ceremony, and still having a wedding cake cutting to cap off the night. You’d never guess that this day was our back up plan, and I can’t wait to celebrate with them even more next year!!
