Bohemian Summer Wedding In The Woods | Colleen and Richard | Oregon Wedding Photographer

Colleen and I met in college as random roommates in a stereotypical terrible city apartment. There were four of us gals in a one-bedroom split, mice everywhere, hard water, and the heat constantly breaking— but we loved every single minute of it y’all. We were always cooking and doing crafts while our work was spread out across the kitchen table, the largest room of the apartment by far. Who would have thought that six years later we’d find ourselves at Hardy Farm for hers and Richard’s wedding where we danced in the woods, ate the most amazing local food, and toasted to how much they’ve grown together?!

And most of all, who would have guessed that I, studying television broadcast at the time, would be the one to document it all?

The most important thing to Colleen and Richard throughout their wedding day as simple: community. They wanted to keep their friends and family close, hey wanted to involve the local vendor community in New England, and make sure it all happened over long, shared, family-style tables. The groom and his father built the custom risers to display all of the local, incredible food catered by Shovel and Spoon. The florals were a mixed of fresh and dried, and largely pulled from foraging, dying, and including unique pieces like asparagus ferns by the master, Lemon and Tulips.

And best of all was our ring leader Danielle of Good Lookn whose impeccable taste for story telling through event planning and design crafted the most glowing, woodsy, whimsical, fairytale, bohemian wedding that boasted family-style everything and honored the local communities and nature. From Little Ivy Paper Goods painting custom invitations, to Hardy Farm setting the perfect atmosphere for these nature lovers, the day couldn’t have been more personal.

Colleen and Richard, I am so grateful I got to be the one to document your day. When we reconnected, you told me about your life’s rhythms and how you’ve carved out time to go to the farmer’s market together, cook together, and share meals over the table together. This is the same kind of intention I try to bring into my own lifestyle, and seeing you bring things to life throughout your wedding day was such a treat. I will always remember the moment dinner was served— everyone was talking loudly, passing dishes around, their faces glowing in the candle light. You two were looking at each other and laughing so hard that you were having a hard time actually taking a bite of your dinner. If that’s not a perfect moment, I don’t know what is.
