After the first dance, but before the cutting of the cake, there was a spontaneous toast. And spontaneous toasts are only caused by one of two things in my experience-- an overflow of alcohol or an outpouring of love. This toast, luckily, was brought on by a father's incredible love for his son. The father of the groom took the mic for the second time that day (the first, a beautiful blessing prayed over the bride and groom during the ceremony) and within minutes he had everyone laughing, crying, and crying from laughing. He even took a moment to toast his own bride of many years as the sun dipped below the palms, turning into the most spectacular sunset I've ever seen.

Jesse's service in the coast guard has taken him and Callyn from coast to coast, from Maine to Oregon and back, so it made sense for them to pick a coastal location for their wedding. But this time they opted for the tropical beaches of Puerto Vallarta over the icy Maine coast where we took their engagement photos. Friends and family from all over the states came down to Mexico to celebrate these two, and it became clear to me with each guest I met that once Callyn and Jesse come into your life, even the longest distance has no chance of keeping you apart. No matter where life takes them, I could see that their friends and family would be their rock and support system through it all.

Callyn and Jesse, I can't believe the two extreme corners of the world I got to experience with y'all. From the blistering cold in Portland, Maine where we slid across the ice to get the perfect shot, to this day in Puerto Vallarta soaking in the sun and sandy beaches. I've loved every minute with you two. But maybe next time let's do something more room-temperature?
