Sunny Summer Family Session on the Oregon Coasttexte

t’s always such a joy to reconnect with past clients, especially when new seasons of life bring us back together. I first met this sweet couple years ago when they were newly engaged. While I wasn’t available to photograph their wedding, I was so honored when they reached out again to document their growing family — this time, for their son’s first birthday.

We met up in Gearhart, a coastal town that holds a special place in their hearts. With the long summer light, sandy dunes, and tall beach grass swaying in the breeze, it made the perfect laid-back backdrop for their family session. Their little one was all giggles and wonder as he explored the beach, and it was such a tender thing to witness the love and connection between the three of them.

This session was captured on both digital and 35mm film, bringing in that nostalgic, textured feel I love so much for family storytelling. While the family opted to keep their son's face private — and those photos are not shared here — the spirit of the day, the connection between them, and the quiet beauty of the Oregon coast all shine through.

Sessions like this are a reminder of why I do what I do: to preserve the tiny in-between moments and celebrate all the chapters that make up a family’s story.
