Mary-Kate and Derek's Modern 1920's Inspired Downtown Boston Wedding | Boston Wedding Photographer

The perfect 1920’s Gatsby inspired wedding is RIGHT up my alley y’all, you know I’m here for the champagne and art deco elements. But planning a wedding in the winter in Boston is risky because you never know what storm you will be dealing with. Thankfully this year we’ve had a mild winter and even enjoyed 32 degrees for Mary-Kate and Derek’s downtown Boston wedding!!

The wedding party got ready at the Fairmont Copley Boston where we’d party our little feet off after their ceremony at Our Lady of Good Voyage. The details of this wedding are stunning, from the Gatsby inspired wedding suite by Paper Culture, the Pronovias jewel covered gown and the lanterns carried by her bridesmaids in place of florals made by Mary-Kate herself in honor of Candlemas, the holiday on the catholic calendar that day. Also, the as wedding favors, Mary-Kate and Derek stamped postcards for all of their guests to write love letters to someone and drop in the hotel mailbox on their way out. Come on. Details, Details, Details.

After the ceremony, we took bride and groom portraits along the water in the Seaport and thankfully we didn’t have to walk far as it was SO COLD Y’ALL. We warmed up sipping on signature cocktails during the cocktail hour back at the Fairmont Copley Boston in one of the old prohibition rooms which opened to their oval ballroom. Old fashioneds and a St Germain and champagne cocktail — we bonded over whiskey last year I felt like a proud momma bear!

The night ended with a mother daughter dance to “Make You Feel My Love” which had everyone weeping. Not one dry eye in that room.

Mary-Kate and Derek, I have deeply enjoyed running around New England with you this last year! From your engagement session in Portland, Maine to downtown Boston to the Seaport, I’d travel to further locations with you hands down. Thank you for inviting me into this magical season of your lives and I wish you the best marriage, friendship and partnership there ever was!

xoxo
