In Home Newborn Session

Getting to document the big milestones in a couple's life is one of the absolute best parts of being a wedding and portrait photographer. When Mallory and Kevin reached out to me for their newborn session, I was beyond excited! I’ve been lucky enough to photograph their engagement and wedding, so being able to capture this next chapter with their sweet baby felt like such an honor.

We decided on an in-home session to keep things easy and relaxed for these new parents. There’s just something so special about photographing families in their own space. It’s cozy, it’s personal, and it makes all the little moments feel that much more real. Plus, Mallory and Kevin’s nursery? Total dream vibes! They’d put so much love into it, with a soft, neutral color palette and the sweetest little details that made it feel uniquely theirs. Seeing how proud they were of their hard work made my heart so happy.

The session itself was full of cozy snuggles and quiet magic. The way new parents look at their baby is like nothing else—a mix of awe, pure love, and just a touch of "we’re so tired, but it’s totally worth it." I captured Kevin rocking their little one in the nursery chair, Mallory gently humming while holding the baby close, and the three of them cuddled up together on the couch. Those in-between moments? They’re my absolute favorite. They’re the ones that stick with you and become the memories you treasure the most.

Some of my favorite film frames from this session:

For this session, I used a mix of digital and film photography. Film just has this timeless quality that feels so perfect for moments like these. The warm, grainy texture adds a little extra magic that’s impossible to replicate. I love incorporating documentary-style photography into my work, especially for sessions like this where the emotions are so real and raw. It’s why I love blending analog photography into my sessions—there’s just something about holding those tangible, one-of-a-kind frames that feels so special.

Mallory and Kevin’s newborn session wasn’t just about taking photos; it was about celebrating their journey as a family here in Oregon. Watching them step into their new roles as parents and seeing how much love they already have for their baby was so inspiring. It’s moments like these that make me feel so lucky to do what I do. Being able to document love in all its forms—from engagements to weddings to growing families—is the best job I could ever ask for.

Mallory and Kevin, thank you for letting me be part of your story once again. I’m so excited to see what’s next for your beautiful family!
