Cameron and Michael's Modern and Woodsy Pierce Farm Wedding | Boston Wedding Photographer

Well y'all, wedding season is finally here! While I was able to kick off 2018 with a wintry farm wedding and a destination wedding in Mexico (!!!!) Cameron and Michael's modern and woodsy wedding at Peirce Farm in Witch Hill was the first of my busy season. Because of New England's extreme and unpredictable weather, wedding photographers must fit a year's worth of work into the matter of a few months. But if every wedding is as sweet, easy going, love-filled and magical as Cameron and Michael's, I think I'll have it easy this season! Cameron and Michael picked a venue that didn't require many additions (since much of the wedding was DIY!) but still offered separate spaces for all of the day's events.

The main house is a gorgeous Victorian-style mansion that I could have spent all day in, exploring all of the detailed fireplaces and vintage knick knacks. Cameron got ready upstairs, and Michael got ready in the main library. After a fairytale first look in the woods nearby, the ceremony took place in the front lawn under an ethereal floral arch by Karla Cassidy Designs. I saw Karla assemble the arch right there on the lawn, and I couldn't believe how quickly and deftly this magical piece came together. I wish I had set up a hyperlapse video, it was mesmerizing to watch! After the sweetest I Do's, everyone headed to the raised garden for cocktail hour. And when your wedding is on Cinco De Mayo, your signature cocktail is MARGARITA Y'ALL! This was the guest's first glimpse into Cameron's amazing DIY decor, as the margarita's had a pink Himalayan sea salt rim. With a family that works in gem science, Cameron brought minerals, crystals, and modern geometrical decor into their reception.  The tables in the Peirce Farm's reception barn were adorned with pink Himalayan sea salt pillars, and votives filled with smaller crystals all hand made by the bride. To find their table, each guest took a stick of white rock candy with a sage green flag with their names handwritten with their table number. The rock candy sat inside their champagne flute for the toasts to follow, and I never want to have champagne without rock candy again!

Continuing with the Cinco De Mayo theme and honoring Michael's Texas roots, they served tacos and BBQ out of the amazing Los Amigos Food Truck from WildFire Catering. The only thing that could have made this woodsy wedding more modern is a non-traditional dessert.... OH WAIT THEY HAD SO MANY PIES Y'ALL. Petsi Pies provided every pie of your dreams, from Key Lime and Pecan to Strawberry-Rhubarb and Peach. We ate, we laughed, and we danced our hearts out with the Closing Time Band. While the sunset was hidden behind lingering clouds, we were blessed with the most marvelous blue hour to sneak back out to the floral arch for some husband and wife portraits. These evening portraits are my favorite part of the night, where the bride and groom can take a break from the rush and adrenaline of a party, look each other in the eyes, and rest in the glow of their marriage.

I also want to make a shout out to the bride's dedication to environmental protection-- she sourced eco-friendly invites from Paper Culture and had composting available at the venue. How cool is that?

Cameron and Michael, thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of your big day. I can't believe everything that's happened in the year since we met, from our sunrise engagement adventure along the Charles River to your BIG MOVE TO DUBLIN!! I knew your wedding day was going to be special, but coming back to Boston all the way from your new home in Ireland made it even sweeter. Your love and devotion to each other and your family and friends is clear to anyone who meets you. You are both kind, caring and so good to each other. Cheers to this adventure, and every adventure that's still to come! And maybe sometime I'll see you in Ireland?!
