Rachel and Sean's Cozy Winter Barn Wedding | Boston Wedding Photographer

Coastal flooding, power outages, and 70 mile-per-our wind gusts-- the recipe for a fairytale wedding day, right? Well, the day before Rachel and Sean's wintry wedding at Valley View Farm in Haydenville, Massachusetts the skies opened up and a Nor'easter rained down here in New England. We were so lucky that by the next morning the storm had cleared away, but even if it hadn't, I know Rachel and Sean would have been just as happy to be getting married. And it's not because they didn't care about the day's details or the weather, but because they cared about marrying each other most. I talked about this with their friends and family, and may have even recorded a video message on Rachel's iPhone when she wasn't looking, but I so admire how they never lost sight of their love and marriage through the entire planning process. These two are meant for each other and truly the embodiment of the famous Walt Whitman quote, "We were together, I forget the rest."

That all being said, we were so thrilled when the weather cleared and we could enjoy each part of the day exactly as they thoughtfully planned it. Rachel actually arranged all of the florals and created the bridal party bouquets and boutonnieres herself! The lofty hall in the yellow barn at Valley View was filled with deep burgundy ranunculus, eucalyptus, and touches of wildflowers throughout. Guests gathered for an outdoor ceremony on the pavilion, cozied up with blankets by the fire pit. They celebrated over a family-style dinner along three, long buffet tables, filling the hall with loud laughter as everyone leaned close and passed their plates. Closing the night with Union Square Donuts and dancing, this was one for the books y'all.

Rachel and Sean, I've loved every minute of this whirlwind season with you two. Wandering the Lyman Estate for your engagement session was one of my favorite days in 2017, and I'm forever indebted to y'all for introducing me to buffalo fried brussels sprouts. You were champs through the wind and the cold (mostly because Sean is a superhuman marvel that radiates heat) and that's what I hope you feel when you look back on these photos. Warmth. Or more specifically, the warmth you created for each other in spite of the storm.
