Sam and Thomas's Cozy Downtown Boston Engagement Session | Boston Wedding Photographer

While Sam and Thomas call Chicago home, Boston is where they met and fell in love so it will always hold a special place in their hearts. They flew in for a weekend to visit some family and friends, catch a football game, and have their downtown Boston fall engagement session!

I had Sam and Thomas met me at Render Coffee in the South End as this is a favorite neighborhood of theirs. Seriously, it’s hard to find a spot that’s NOT photogenic. When planning for this engagement session, instead of a list of landmarks, we decided to wander the neighborhood like we were out on a weekend stroll and see what we found. Spoiler alert: we found a whole lot of gorgeousness.

During our stroll/engagement session, we popped into Cafe Nero to warm up (it was the first chill day of the fall!) and change. Quick photo session tip: I always recommend you show up in your fancy clothes first if you’re planning on two outfits. That way by the time you change into casual outfits, you’re totally warmed up to the camera and ready to run around, get silly, and really just enjoy hanging out with your love. Less pressure this way. Promise.

After wrapping up getting the best photos in the South End, we hopped in an Uber to chase the sunset to the Longfellow Bridge. I usually recommend the beautiful walk from the South End to the river if you have time, but we were in a rush to catch that sunset so we had to take the second best way, a car. Construction on the Longfellow Bridge is FINALLY finished and I’m so glad because it’s one of my favorite overlooks of the Boston skyline with a killer sunset view.

Sam and Thomas, I know you were a little nervous at first, but by the time the sun was setting the nerves melted away and you were having a ball, without a care in the world, and totally lost in each other. I am so thankful that you invited me into this special time together and I had the best time with you. I’m so glad that we could make this engagement session more like a date night than a photoshoot. Wishing you all the best for your wedding in Chicago, and I can’t wait to stalk the photos once they’re out!!!
