Katie And Nic's Cannon Beach Anniversary Session | Oregon Wedding Photographer
You may recognize Katie and Nic from their in-home couples session last winter, and be wondering how we all ended up on the Oregon coast together for their Cannon Beach anniversary session. I met these two in Boston when they were newlyweds getting their bearings in a new city while Nic was finishing law school, but this summer they moved back to Portland and added a very fluffy, good boy to their family— Hobey the sheepadoodle! Most of my #NomadicNovember trip was in Oregon (more on that later) so we couldn’t resist the chance to head back to the very beach where Katie and Nic first met so many years ago.
We started out by hiking around Ecola State Park hoping to tired Hobey out a bit, but if you’ve ever met a five month old sheepadoodle puppy you know that their energy is limitless. So we headed down to the north side of the beach while it was still low tide and pretty much had the place to ourselves. Making sure to run around the rocks and back to the main beach before the tide came back in (last summer I made the mistake of staying too long, got stuck, and had to hike all the way back up and around!) we then drove down to an access point closer to Haystack rock. One thing that continues to amaze me about the Oregon coast is just how roomy it is. Of course Haystack is going to be crowded on a warm Saturday evening, but we had so much space to work with that it didn’t feel crowded at all. New England beaches are pretty jagged, so I’m used to being in a more confined space. This was a nice change of pace for sure.
Katie and Nic, I still can’t believe everything we’ve been able to go through together over the last few years. From trips to Iceland, coast to coast visits, new homes, new cities, new churches, and new PUPPIES it’s amazing to see what this season of life has brought. I’m so grateful for your friendship, and loved the opportunity to document your growing family at Cannon Beach where it all began.
